In texas hold'em, the initial step is to get the card game started, and for this the competitors put out a certain total of cash. 'Posting the blinds' is the frequently used term for this play. In the following step, the dealer shuffles the cards and deals 2 cards face down to all players. A normal deck of 52 playing cards is used in the deal. After the deal, there is the first round of betting. This sequence is normally referred to as a "pre-flop".

Following the first betting sequence, the top card is tossed aside. This discarded card is referred to as the "burn card", and this is performed to ensure there is absolutely no dishonestly. The following three cards are then flipped face up on the table. These cards are 'the flop'. Now comes a 2nd round of betting, after which the dealer tosses out an additional card and deals one more card onto the poker table. Following this, competitors can utilize the 6th card to form a 5card poker hand.

A further sequence of betting follows, and in a number of types of games, here is where the bet size doubles. There is another round of throwing away a card, and a final deal of a card face-up on the table. This is known as the "river". Bettors can now employ any of the five cards on the poker table, and/or the 2 cards that they are holding, to assemble a five-card poker hand.

To wrap it up there's another round of wagering. Then, all the remaining players start to show their hands. This is known as the "showdown". Obviously, the competitor who shows the strongest hand wins. When gamblers have tied hands a sharing of the winnings is used.

Hold'em is a simple game to pick up, but to acquire knowledge one needs a lot of practice.
