Do you ever get that itch? The itch to wager, to head to the nearest betting house, to discover a high stakes casino game of Hold'em, to sit at a Blackjack table for hours on end. I like that itch. And I really like to scratch it.

I also really like to watch individuals bet. No 2 poker faces seem alike. When I wager I like to feel I put on a poker face which is impassable. But I know I have particular mannerisms. For one, the only time I smoke is when I wager on poker or Pontoon. And then I smoke. But I smoke regardless of whether I am winning or losing, whether I have a excellent hand or bad.

I once bet in a very weekly poker game. The game was generally 5 card draw. There was a player who played with us every week who often wore a hat. When he was dealt a excellent hand, subconsciously, he would start touching and wagering with his hat. Needless to say, he by no means won.

The greatest poker player I ever saw was a player who created a lot more movements and gestures at a poker table than anybody I had ever met. He was impeccable in the way he dressed. Generally an high-priced suit and tie, footwear shined and nails manicured. He was diligent in this manner. And he was always brushing his pant leg or rubbings his hands or stacking his chips in neat little piles.

I use to study him for hours on end. I would tried to see if I could spot his tell. Selecting lint off his shirt- did this mean he was bluffing? Stacking his chips in a short pile - did this mean he had a great hand?

Many years later I bumped into him in a bar in New York and we had a drink. I asked him if he had been aware of all those movements he manufactured or if they have been subconscious. He informed me that every single thing he did at a poker table was intentional. He said that everybody is usually checking out everyone else's poker face. They're trying to detect the the tell.

So his program was to provide them lots to believe about. His reasoning was if they have been pondering about him choosing a piece of lint off his coat and what it meant they sure were not pondering about their cards.

His method was diversion. And it worked for him. By no means give up a method that works for you.
