Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn't permit the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
