Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about the game. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from others kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
