Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about the game. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn't allow the negative comments from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn't a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. He states that he's learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
