Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn't a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
