Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the last table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel's full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players in the world. While wagering on net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He often participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can't buy-in for the total amt.. I believe television can skew our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world may be players you have won't have heard of before. Gus can be seen wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player.
