Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn't allow the detrimental comments from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn't a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
