Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently seen as one of the most complicated but favored poker games. It's a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for action from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure game, has increased in acceptance so amazingly.

Omaha 8 or better starts just like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are handed out to every player. A round of betting follows where gamblers can bet, check, or fold. Three cards are given out, this is known as the flop. A further sequence of betting ensues. After all the gamblers have either called or folded, an additional card is flipped on the turn. a further sequence of wagering follows and then the river card is revealed. The gamblers will have to make the best high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where a number of entrants often get flustered. Unlike Hold'em, in which the board can be every player's hand, in Omaha hi-low the player has to use exactly three cards on the board, and exactly 2 hole cards. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Contrary to normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot can be won: the "high hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It is the strongest possible hand out of everyone's, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It's the identical notion in almost every poker game.

The lower hand is more complex, but really free's up the play. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes don't count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that can be put together, with the lowest value being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes don't count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and below. The low hand takes half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there is no lower hand available, the high hand takes the complete pot.

Although it seems complex at the start, after a few rounds you will be able to pick up on the fundamental nuances of the game easily enough. Since you have individuals betting for the low and wagering for the high, and since such a large number of cards are being used at once, Omaha/8 offers an overwhelming array of wagering choices and owing to the fact that you have several players shooting for the high hand, as well as a few battling for the low hand. If you love a game with a plethora of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to play Omaha 8 or better.
