Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
